Sports activity, especially prolonged high intensity activity and endurance training, whether indoor or outdoor, is responsible for a physiological reduction in iron reserves, putting athletes at greater risk of developing a deficiency (sideropenia) and, in more severe cases, iron deficiency anaemia.

Various mechanisms can lead to an iron deficiency situation in athletes, including: poor food choice, increased demand for iron by the body, high iron loss, inflammation, foot-strike haemolysis, excessive sweat loss, ischaemia leading to gastrointestinal iron loss, haematuria and decreased iron absorption due to elevated hepcidin levels. These factors contribute to athletes being exposed to fatigue, muscle weakness and impaired cognitive function, negatively affecting athletic performance.

Iron Race, thanks to its formulation containing as much as 30 mg of Sucrosomial® Iron per capsule, is the supplement designed to increase the iron reserves of people who, for sporting reasons, need to support increased physiological requirements of this essential mineral. Its Sucrosomial® formulation improves iron absorption and tolerability, thus eliminating the typical gastro-intestinal discomfort that often occurs and ensuring greater bioavailability.

Furthermore, the addition of copper, vitamins C, B2, B6, B12 and folic acid promotes red blood cell formation and helps to protect cells from oxidative stress and support the immune system.
